FRANCE

Underneath the isle of British land lies a country that has different sand.
Where at night the crickets cheep with much green land of cattle and sheep.
Where the cornfields grow for miles and miles, a place where the weather seems to make you smile.
Where grapes are grown on a grape vine, then they're juiced to make wine.
Where the beaches are full of conches and shells where the village churches ring out the bells.
Where cheese is made and eaten with bread and a place where another language is said.
A place where the arts matter more.
A place where all I've seen I've never seen before.

Brittany is a most fascinating part of the world where the history of Britain and France has been interwoven for hundreds of years and the preservation of the castles and monuments is remarkable. In addition the area has more than its fair share of museums both ancient and modern. The almost traffic free roads make cycling a pleasure and cycle hire is available from the centre.

Le Chateau de Hac in Le Quiou and Mont St Michel.

The coastline provides an endless variety of sandy beaches within 35 minutes drive, ranging from fashionable resorts, secluded bays, dramatic cliffs and quaint harbours. There is something to suit all tastes and requirements.

The stunning coastline offers superb beaches.

Le Quiou is easily reached from St Malo (35 mins) or the Normandy ports of Caen and Cherboug 3 hrs and is only 5 hrs from Calais. It is only 30 minutes from the airport at Dinard. The village is just 10 minutes south of the beautiful historic walled town of Dinan with its picturesque medieval centre, fine shops and restaurants and the bijou port where you can shop, hire a boat or just watch the world go by while sipping an aperitif. Rennes-the capital of Brittany is just 35 minutes south where medieval architecture rich in ornate timberwork shares the city's heart with grand classical stone buildings that were built after the great fire of 1720.
